Cabin fever anyone?  I know I’d prefer 12 feet of snow to the cold winter rain we get here in southeastern PA.  Although with a toddler that doesn’t understand the concept of wearing a hat and mittens, I don’t think I’d get out in the snow much either!  So if you’re stuck inside and going nuts, here are some ideas to give some variety to your repertoire, without adding extra expense:

    You know it.  You hear Christmas music on the radio 24/7 already.  You see oversized snowglobes on undersized lawns.  And yes, yesterday I saw the first commercial for “the clapper!”

As the holidays approach, doesn’t it seem like as the amount of daylight gets shorter, so do the hours of the day?  There is so much to get done:  shopping, cooking, decorating, vacuuming, etc to get ready for all of those holiday parties and guests.  All that you can think about is, what is the next thing I can check off that ‘to do’ list?

I don’t know about you, but I love autumn!  The temperature outside is what I consider ‘perfect’.  I love the crispness of the air when I step outside, cold apple cider, and being able to light up the fireplace for the first time.

I was with a group of women recently who were discussing the Oprah episode where some famous mothers were talking about their dealings with their autistic children.  One of the most controversial aspects of this discussion was how these children became autistic.  As a result, parents today have some very difficult decisions to make.  Should they immunize them?  Should they eliminate gluten or other foods from their family’s diet?

I was visiting my parents’ house recently and reflecting on pictures from my childhood.  Pictures of holidays, birthdays and vacations brought back memories I had long since forgotten.  It’s hard to believe in today’s high-tech mindset that we grew up without cell phones, high-speed internet, DVD players, and the list goes on.  What ever did we do waiting for all those video and cassette tapes to rewind?  The kids today will never know.
